Hours: Typical working hours are 8:00 am – 4:30 pm Monday to Thursday and Friday 8.:00 am – 3:15 pm.

THE ROLE
We are an established independent training provider, trading as a specialist engineering college, delivering high quality apprenticeship training to employers across the region. Our focus is on technical excellence, strong employer partnerships and creating positive outcomes for learners and industry alike.
As we enter the next phase of development, we are seeking an exceptional Engineering & Curriculum Manager to join our Senior Leadership Team. Reporting to the General Manager and working closely with the CEO, this is a key operational leadership role within college which holds overall responsibility for the relevance and effectiveness of our engineering apprenticeship curriculum.
You will be a confident leader with experience in further education, training or apprenticeship delivery, ideally within engineering or a technical discipline.
You will combine your engineering and education expertise with strategic thinking, commercial awareness and a passion for developing people and business.
You will lead the delivery and day to day operations of our engineering apprenticeship programmes with responsibility for managing a team of tutors and assessors who support young engineers.
You will support staff performance to ensure high-quality teaching and assessment maintains learner progression and excellent learner outcomes.
You will ensure all activity meets funding and quality standards and complies with the regulatory requirements of apprenticeship provision.
You will have a strong understanding of safeguarding young people and be committed to learner welfare and success.
Working closely with the CEO and senior leadership team, the post holder will play a key role in shaping future growth, strengthening employer partnerships and ensuring college remains responsive to the evolving needs of learners, employers and regulators. Key Responsibilities
- Strategic & Curriculum Leadership
- Lead development of the engineering curriculum to ensure alignment with employer needs, industry standards and regulatory body requirements
- Shape curriculum strategy to support learner progression, achievement and long-term employability
- Monitor and evaluate curriculum performance, using insightful data to drive continuous improvement
Quality & Compliance
- Provide oversight of teaching, learning and assessment within the engineering provision
- Ensure compliance with ESFA, Ofsted and awarding body requirements
- Contribute to self-assessment, quality improvement planning and inspection readiness
Leadership & People Development
- Lead, develop and inspire engineering delivery and quality teams
- Support the professional development of tutors, particularly those transitioning from industry into education
- Foster a culture of high performance, collaboration and accountability
Organisational & Strategic Contribution
- Actively contribute as a member of the Senior Leadership Team
- Work in partnership with the General Manager and CEO on strategic planning, risk management and organisational priorities
- Represent college with employers, stakeholders and external partners
- Support the long-term sustainability, reputation and growth of the company
Person Specification
Essential
- Significant leadership experience within engineering education, training or a closely related technical sector
- Strong understanding of apprenticeship delivery, curriculum design and quality assurance
- Strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and best practice
- Proven ability to lead teams and drive improvement by managing performance, workloads and operational priorities
- Teaching, assessing and internal quality assurance qualifications
- Experience of working with employers and external stakeholders
- Confidence operating at senior leadership level and influencing organisational decision-making
- IT literate with experience using learner tracking systems and Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Teams
Desirable
- Teaching, assessing and internal quality assurance qualifications
- Experience contributing to organisational strategy beyond a single department
- Exposure to governance, inspection or board-level reporting
- A track record of leading change or organisational development initiatives
- IT experience of MIS, Canvas, OneFile or similar systems
