Coronavirus (Covid-19)
The Engineering College is following government guidance and advice produced by Public Health England and NHS. The Engineering College is in regular contact with employers, students, parents and carers and staff to update on the situation.
The Engineering College continue to follow the advice for schools and educational settings from Public Health England (PHE).
Since the announcement yesterday around school closure and non-essential contact for vulnerable people and people with underlying health conditions, the college have taken some necessary precautions. To further minimise the risks to our learners and staff, we will be asking all learners to work from home until further notice, with the exception of a small cohort from Friday 20th March.
Training will still carry on however and work will be set for all students with the backup and support of the combined engineering trade teams here at the Engineering College. Learners will have access to their college emails and our ‘One Drive’ learning platform, and their Training Officers and Tutors will maintain regular contact with the learners throughout the disrupted period.
We have also taken the decision to extend our Easter Shutdown from one week to two. This will now mean that our staff will be on Easter shut down leave from Friday 3rd April and reopening on Monday 20th April 2020.
The college has implemented a continuity plan to maintain learning support. Our staff are currently preparing for remote working and distance learning delivery to support continuity of training during the disruption period. Please contact the team at the college on 0151 666 1028 or support@theengineeringcollege.co.uk if you have any queries at this time or have trouble working remotely.
If you become unwell during this period or experience any changes that may affect your training during this period of uncertainty we ask that you keep us informed so we can monitor, support and act accordingly.
There is a lot of advice on how people can protect themselves online at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus
We ask that you think about each other at this time and follow the guidance. We will update you as and when more information is released, thank you for your continued support.
