Business Development Manager soars in new appointment

In March 2016, The Engineering College saw a new appointment for the role of Business Development Manager. Amanda Holmes, who has worked in the engineering and manufacturing industry for– years, has made a huge impact since her arrival at The Engineering College, helping to secure more than 100 new apprentices since the beginning of March.

Since her appointment, Amanda has brought more than 20 companies to the door of The Engineering College.

Amanda, who has an active role in the promotion, recruitment and selection and Employability training process at The Engineering College, describes the importance of apprenticeships in the current business climate, “the government is looking for employers to recruit 3 million apprentices before 2020. With the new apprenticeship levy being introduced next year, it is crucial that we increase lines of communication with our local and regional engineering sector employers and continue to maintain and develop strong relationships with them. These relations are imperative to ensure our clients (existing and potential) have access to a solid pipeline of budding engineers for years to come and through partnerships, can continue to support apprenticeship employment and growth in the Liverpool City Region.”

Chief Executive of The Engineering College, Terry Weston commented, “Amanda has made a significant contribution as a member of our team and is a driving force behind our success; she has brought a diverse range of new clients and regional ‘influences’ from the local authority and with it tremendous support from the Liverpool Enterprise Partnership (LEP).”
