Engineering College Annual Awards- Celebrating Success

The Engineering College Annual Awards – Celebrating success and 20 years in industry!

The Engineering College team are to celebrate student’s success at the annual Apprentice Awards on Thursday 25th October 2018.

This year marks the 20th anniversary for The Engineering College; which has trained more than 10,000 students since first opening its doors in 1998.
The Apprentice Awards evening is now a staple event in the college’s events calendar and celebrates success across Merseyside in the engineering industry and related sectors.

The Engineering College CEO, Terry Weston commented, “The Apprentice Awards recognises the talent we have here at The Engineering College and the commitment that these students make from their first day of employment to the last day of their programme. This awards evening recognises the contribution that these students make- not just to their qualification, but to supporting their employer, whether a large employer or a local SME. We have the opportunity, alongside their employers, to see our students grow and mature into some of the city’s finest engineering talent.”

The theme for 2018 is ‘Commitment to Success’, which recognises the commitment made by students from a range of programmes including pre-apprenticeship programmes, and the skills contribution they make to the engineering industry.

We are pleased to confirm ECITB, Cammell Laird and The Welding Institute (TWI) as headline sponsors again for 2018.

The ECITB is the employer-led skills body for the engineering construction industry in Great Britain. It works closely with employers and the Government to attract develop and qualify engineering construction personnel in a wide range of craft, technical and professional skills and disciplines. The Engineering College have a long standing relationship with ECITB and local construction businesses in Merseyside; that have supported hundreds of talented and skilled apprentices into employment as engineers.

Cammell Laird has had a strong partnership with The Engineering College for 20 years, with a focus firmly on skills. This partnership has welcomed some exceptionally talented young engineers to the shipyard for over 20 years, and the philosophy at Cammell Laird has led to many former apprentices maturing and progressing as Qualified Tradespeople, Managers and Directors.

The Welding Institute (TWI) is the leading professional engineering institution for the registration of people involved with welding and joining all over the world. TWI exist to support welding and joining personnel, to promote the profession and its importance in today’s world, and to secure its place in the future.
