Engineering College celebrates the Future of Engineering

Yesterday, (Thursday 24th October), our team welcomed students, (former and current), employers and families to celebrate the ‘Future of Engineering’ with a special awards ceremony. For the first time, the event was held in Wallasey Town Hall and welcomed an estimated 130 attendees, including award finalists and apprentice achievers. This event was in celebration of the college’s 20 Year Anniversary.

Awards

This year 14 awards were presented in the following categories:

STEM Student of the Year 2019
Congratulations to Robert Burrows, Mosslands School and Ben Weston, Mosslands School who were announced as finalists for this award.
Well done to Harry Hillhouse from Clarke Energy (and also a former Mosslands Schools student) on winning this accolade.

Pre-Apprenticeship Student of the Year 2019
Congratulations to Dion Upton, Cammell Laird and Nathan Tulley, Astra Vehicle Technologies who were announced as finalists for this award.
Well done to Leon Halligan from MR Engineering on winning this award.

ITEC Student of the Year 2019
Presented by Shashi Ardeshana, ECITB
Congratulations to Neil Brooks, Cammell Laird and Kyle Cotgrave, MSR who were announced as finalists for this award.
Well done to Paul Diamond, GP Engineering on winning this accolade.

Foundation Stage Award 2019
Congratulations to Jack Holmes, Dantec and George Tudor, NW Precision who were announced as finalists for this award.
Well done to Daniel Kaposi from Clarke Energy for winning this award.

Development Stage Award 2019
Congratulations to Thomas Sharrock, Seaking Group and Ryan Abrams, AMF Engineering who were announced as finalists for this award.
Well done to Thomas Wakefield from Teledyne CML  on winning this accolade.

Further Development Stage Award 2019
Congratulations to Connor Watson, Cokebusters and Jack Bendrey, National Marine who were announced as finalists for this award.
Well done to Connor Ledder from MR Engineering for winning this award.

HNC Student of the Year 2019
Congratulations to Owen Griffiths, Stadler Rail on winning this new award for 2019.

ECITB Apprentice of the Year 2019
Presented by Lesley Coombes, ECITB and awarded to Anthony Moffitt, Balfour Beatty.

Cammell Laird Apprentice of the Year 2019
Presented by Mike Hill, Cammell Laird and awarded to Craig Reid, a student who has recently achieved his apprenticeship in 2019.

TWI ‘Welder of the Year’ 2019
Congratulations to James Joynson, Fenelon Storage Tanks on winning this award.

IMechE ‘Most Approved Apprentice’ 2019
Congratulations to Jack Holmes, Dantec on winning this award.

IMarEST ‘Apprentice of the Year’ 2019
Congratulations to Jack Bendrey, National Marine on winning this award.

Contribution to Engineering Award 2019
Congratulations to Neil Brooks, Cammell Laird on achieving this award.

The ‘Jim Teasdale’ Apprentice of the Year 2019
Congratulations to Daniel Kaposi, Clarke Energy on achieving this award.

Graduation

In addition to the main 14 awards, we also had an opportunity to present 24 achievers with their certificate of completion for their successfully achieving their apprenticeships in the last academic year.

Thanks

The team would like to give special thanks to the Board of Directors, of which it is governed by for their attendance and support at this event. We would also like to give thanks to Mark Maudsley, GTA England, Carrie Anne Harris, British Antarctic Survey and John Haynes, International Coaching Academy for speaking at the event about their respective careers in industry and how each see the future of engineering and the skills required for the Industry 4.0 transformation.
