Engineering College donates to Wirral Food Bank
Each year our team chose a local charity to support at Christmas time.
This year, the campaign was led by Katie who organised a ‘donation station’ for the Wirral Food Bank.
Donations were received by staff and even some learners throughout the month of November and were donated this week to Wirral Food Bank on Wallasey Dock Road in Wirral.
Katie Thompson who led the project commented,
“When we dropped the donations off, the team at Wirral Food Bank were incredibly grateful. It makes you realise how incredibly lucky we are to get a warm meal every day and it warms the heart to know that we have made a difference to some families this Christmas who may not even have presents. We were able to donate enough for more than 10 food parcels.”
Terry Weston, CEO, added
“In what has been a tough year for many families, I am so glad that Katie and the team have made this happen, it is a fantastic effort from the team of staff and students and a great initiative led by Katie. There has never been a more important time to support our local community.”
The same sentiments were echoed by the rest of the team at the Engineering College!
Wirral Food Bank opened its doors back in 2011 and in 2019 alone Wirral Food Bank provided 16,525 three-day emergency food supplies to local people.
With 1 in 5 of the UK population living below the poverty line, donations are essential.
