Tranmere Rovers to host a ‘Super’ White Christmas

Tranmere Rovers is planning a “Super White Christmas” to help Wirral’s homeless and people facing Christmas alone.

The football club is spreading some festive cheer with a children’s party, a Boxing Day afternoon for homeless people, a present collection appeal – and a “Super White Christmas Day” on December 25th.

The event will see adults who are alone at this time of the year served a festive dinner alongside live entertainment.

On Boxing Day the club will host an afternoon for homeless people, including a hot meal before attending Rovers’ National League fixture against Macclesfield Town.

And the Super White Christmas Appeal will collect donations of Christmas presents to give to children and adults to distribute over the Christmas period.

Vice Chairman Nicola Palios said: “For most of us, Christmas is a fun time of year. But for those who are lonely, homeless or in financial difficulty it can be a time of great stress and isolation.

“These initiatives are an opportunity for us as a Club to try to bring some of the happiness that most of us take for granted to those members of our community who are facing tough times.

“It is initiatives like these that make me very proud to be associated with Tranmere , and with Wirral.”

On December 3 the club will also hold a Super White Children’s Christmas Party for children associated with charities helped via the club’s #SWA2 initiative, set up to enable disadvantaged people to attend matches.

Youngsters will enjoy a fun game of football, dance activities and meet Father Christmas before taking their seats for Tranmere’s home game against York City.
