Pathways

ECITB

We take on 12 apprentices every year who are funded by The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB).

Each apprentice receives a salary for their work, allowing them to earn whilst they learn. Once they’ve completed their apprenticeship, we look to get them a job with one of our partners.

Through these ECITB scholarships, apprentices get a Level 2 qualification in pipefitting or welding, a CCNSG Safety passport, and a chance to try out engineering.

The scholarships create opportunities for students who don’t quite have the necessary qualifications to enter into an apprenticeship, but are still interested in pursuing a career in engineering. They learn and earn in a safe environment, readying them for a job. More can be found on their socials and websites if you need more: https://www.ecitb.org.uk/career-pathways/ecitb-scholarships/

More about the ECITB

The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) is the skills, standards, and qualifications body for the development of the engineering construction workforce of Great Britain. An arms-length body of the UK Government, the ECITB reports to the Department for Education. The ECITB works with employers and training providers to attract, develop, and qualify the engineering construction workforce in various craft, technical and professional disciplines.

ECITB engineering qualifications are highly valued by employers as they guarantee a high level of practical competence and proficiency in design and project management. At The Engineering College, we’re an ECITB-approved training provider, and we invest about £25 million each year in supporting skills development within the industry.
