OUR APPROACH

HOW WE SUPPORT YOU

The journey through higher education isn’t always plain sailing. There will be bumps along the way, and these bumps have the potential to knock a learner’s confidence. We know this because we’ve witnessed it first-hand for more than 25 years. That’s why we place a strong emphasis on mental health and wellbeing. Students can overcome any difficulty they face with our dedicated pastoral support services. We also provide various resources and programmes to further enhance their mental wellbeing.

Each student gains invaluable educational and life experiences by becoming part of our community. We encourage all our students to engage in activities which help them develop a broader perspective and sense of social responsibility. Thanks to our holistic approach to education, our learners become outstanding engineers and compassionate, well-rounded individuals ready to make a positive impact. Ultimately, they grow as people.

STUDENT FAQS

We meet each week for the first period of work or until we resolve the most pressing issues within your business. Once we establish a plan, we usually meet each month to ensure you’re on track. Each quarter, we’ll take more time to set targets and assess the previous quarter.

We provide pre-apprenticeship courses that enable learners to develop the skills and confidence to thrive in the workplace. We work in partnership with The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) — the employer-led skills body for the UK’s engineering construction industry — to offer a wide range of engineering courses covering various technical, craft, and professional disciplines.

We also deliver specialised engineering vocational training to students between the ages of 16 and 17 via our schools programme. This programme gives students vital, hands-on experience, with many of them progressing into advanced apprenticeships.

Students are committing to between three-and-a-half and four years when they register for one of our apprenticeships.

Our courses make learners industry-ready. Not only do they have a job opportunity from the moment they register for one of our courses, but they also earn as they learn, which allows them to focus on their long-term goals. We tailor our courses to the learner’s employer, equipping them with the most relevant, applicable skills before they enter full-time employment. Our results are far higher than the national average and well over half of our staff have completed apprenticeships, so they know exactly what each learner is going through.

STUDENT SUPPORT

SAFEGUARDING STUDENTS

We monitor and review the attendance, behaviour, and performance of all students regularly. In the event of a student absence, we will inform parents and employers to ensure the student is safe.  Our staff will review students’ progress through an Individual Learning Plan and support them in achieving their targets.

We also provide the following:

  •  Support to help students keep on top of their work
  •  Support and guidance with family issues and childcare
  •  Support with any additional learning needs
  • Guidance and signposting on financial issues
  • Support with personal issues
  • Support with time management
  • Support for students who have special educational needs,
difficulties, or disabilities (SEND)
  •  Guidance and signposting on substance abuse
